Jewish-Roman Wars
The Jewish-Roman Wars were a series of conflicts between the ancient Jews and the Roman Empire, occurring primarily from 66 to 135 CE. The First Jewish-Roman War (66-73 CE) began due to Jewish resistance against Roman rule, culminating in the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple in 70 CE. The Bar Kokhba Revolt (132-135 CE) was a significant but ultimately unsuccessful revolt against Roman oppression. These wars reflected the struggle for Jewish autonomy and led to significant loss of life, displacement, and the transformation of Jewish society, particularly in relation to the emerging Christian world and Roman governance.
