Imam Malik

Imam Malik ibn Anas (711-795 CE) was a prominent Islamic scholar and the founder of the Maliki school of jurisprudence, one of the four major Sunni schools. He is best known for his work "Al-Muwatta," a collection of hadiths (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) and legal opinions that emphasizes the practices of the people of Medina as a basis for Islamic law. Imam Malik's approach highlights the importance of tradition and community consensus in interpreting Islamic teachings. His influence endures in North and West Africa, where his legal teachings continue to guide Muslim practices today.
