Humoral Theory

Humoral Theory was a medical concept from ancient times, widely accepted during the Medieval period, which suggested that the human body was governed by four bodily fluids or "humors": blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile. Each humor was linked to specific physical and emotional traits. Health was believed to result from a balance of these humors, while disease was thought to arise from imbalances. Treatments often involved diet, herbal remedies, and practices like bloodletting, aiming to restore harmony within the body. This theory shaped medical understanding and practices for centuries, influencing how illnesses were treated.
