German East Africa
German East Africa was a colonial territory in East Africa established by Germany in the late 19th century, encompassing parts of present-day Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi. It was part of the German Empire's expansion during the "Scramble for Africa." The region was known for its diverse cultures and natural resources. The colony faced resistance, notably during the Maji Maji Rebellion against German rule (1905-1907). After World War I, it was ceded to Britain under a League of Nations mandate, eventually leading to the establishment of the modern nations of Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi.
