Mandate System
The Mandate System was established after World War I by the League of Nations to manage former territories of the defeated powers, primarily Germany and the Ottoman Empire. These territories, called mandates, were assigned to victorious countries for administration, with the intent of guiding them towards self-governance. The system aimed to promote stability and development in regions perceived as unable to govern themselves. Mandates were divided into three categories based on their development level: Class A, B, and C, with Class A mandates, like Iraq and Palestine, considered closest to independence.
