European Ombudsman

The European Ombudsman is an independent body that investigates complaints about mismanagement or unfair treatment by European Union institutions. Established in 1995, the Ombudsman’s role is to ensure accountability, transparency, and respect for citizens' rights in EU actions. If a citizen feels they have been treated unjustly by an EU institution, they can file a complaint with the Ombudsman, who then looks into the issue and can recommend improvements. The Ombudsman promotes good administration and helps enhance trust in the European Union by addressing concerns and upholding ethical standards.
