Eugene of Savoy

Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736) was a prominent military commander and statesman in European history, particularly known for his role in the wars against the Ottoman Empire and as a key figure in the Habsburg Monarchy. Born in France and of noble Savoyard descent, he switched allegiance to the Habsburgs, rising to prominence due to his strategic brilliance and leadership in numerous battles. Eugene played a pivotal role in key conflicts like the Battle of Zenta (1697) and the War of the Spanish Succession, significantly influencing the balance of power in Europe during his time.
