Battle of Zenta
The Battle of Zenta took place on September 11, 1697, during the Austro-Turkish War. It was a decisive conflict between the Habsburg Monarchy, led by General Otto Graf Starhemberg, and the Ottoman Empire, commanded by Grand Vizier Mehmet IV. The Habsburg forces won a significant victory, which effectively ended Ottoman control in Central Europe and allowed Austria to consolidate power in the region. The battle was notable for its strategic maneuvers and the effective use of cavalry, marking a turning point in the long-standing rivalry between these two empires. This victory contributed to the Treaty of Karlowitz in 1699.
