Easter Rising

The Easter Rising was a pivotal event in Irish history that occurred from April 24 to April 29, 1916. It was an armed uprising aimed at ending British rule in Ireland and establishing an independent Irish Republic. A group of Irish nationalists, including members of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and the Citizens' Army, seized key locations in Dublin. Although the rebellion was suppressed within a week, it galvanized public support for Irish independence. The leaders were executed, but their sacrifice inspired future generations, eventually leading to the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922.
