Divided Kingdom

The Divided Kingdom refers to a period in ancient Hebrew history following the death of King Solomon around 931 BCE. The Israelite kingdom split into two separate entities: the northern kingdom, known as Israel, and the southern kingdom, called Judah. This division arose due to political tensions and differing tribal loyalties. Israel consisted of ten tribes and had its capital in Samaria, while Judah included two tribes, with Jerusalem as its capital. This fragmentation led to differing religious practices and eventually contributed to both kingdoms facing invasions and eventual destruction by foreign powers.
