Jeroboam refers to a significant figure in ancient history, specifically in the context of the Hebrew Bible. He served as the first king of the northern kingdom of Israel after its split from the southern kingdom of Judah around 931 BCE. This division followed King Solomon's reign and was rooted in political and social tensions. Jeroboam is best known for establishing new religious practices, including the worship of golden calves, which led to significant cultural and spiritual changes in Israel.
