Temple of Jerusalem

The Temple of Jerusalem refers to two ancient structures that were central to Jewish worship in Jerusalem. The First Temple, built by King Solomon around 957 BCE, was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. The Second Temple, completed in 516 BCE, was expanded by King Herod and stood until it was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. These temples housed sacred artifacts, including the Ark of the Covenant, and were places where Jews offered sacrifices and worshipped. The Western Wall, a remnant of the Second Temple, is a significant site for Jewish prayer today.
