Rehoboam

Rehoboam was a biblical figure and the son of King Solomon, ruling as the first king of the southern kingdom of Judah after the division of the ancient Kingdom of Israel around 930 BCE. His reign is noted for the harsh policies that led to the revolt of the northern tribes, which resulted in the establishment of the separate kingdom of Israel. Rehoboam’s decisions, influenced by advisors, included increasing taxes, which alienated many of his subjects. His story is often seen as a cautionary tale about leadership and the importance of listening to wise counsel.
