Constructivism and Relativism

Constructivism is the idea in science that knowledge is constructed by humans interpreting their observations; it's not just 'out there' to be discovered. Relativism argues that our understanding of the world is relative to our society, culture or personal perspective. Both approaches emphasize that our knowledge of the world is actively created, rather than passively received.
