Camp David Summit
The Camp David Summit, held in 1978, was a historic peace negotiation between Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, and U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Taking place at Camp David, a presidential retreat in Maryland, the summit aimed to resolve long-standing tensions between Israel and Egypt. The discussions led to the Camp David Accords, resulting in Egypt recognizing Israel and initiating peace, while Israel agreed to withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula. This agreement marked a significant turning point in Middle Eastern relations and was the first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab country.
