Anwar Sadat

Anwar Sadat was the third President of Egypt, serving from 1970 until his assassination in 1981. He is best known for his role in the Camp David Accords, where he negotiated peace with Israel in 1979, making Egypt the first Arab country to recognize Israel. This move aimed to end decades of conflict. Sadat's leadership also involved significant economic reform and attempts to modernize Egypt. However, his policies faced criticism, and his peace efforts led to hostility from other Arab nations. He was assassinated by extremists who opposed his peace initiatives during a military parade.
