Battle of Uhud
The Battle of Uhud, fought in 625 CE near Medina, was a significant conflict between early Muslims, led by the Prophet Muhammad, and the Quraysh tribe of Mecca. Following their defeat at the Battle of Badr, the Quraysh sought revenge. Initially, Muslims gained the upper hand, but due to a strategic error by some archers who abandoned their posts, the tide turned. The Quraysh launched a counterattack, resulting in significant losses for the Muslims, including the death of the Prophet's uncle, Hamza. Despite the setback, the battle reinforced the resolve of the Muslim community and highlighted the importance of unity and strategy.
