
Battle of Carabobo
The Battle of Carabobo, fought on June 24, 1821, was a crucial conflict in the Venezuelan War of Independence. It took place near Valencia, Venezuela, between the forces of independence leader Simón Bolívar and the Spanish colonial army. Bolívar's troops, numbering around 6,000, decisively defeated the Spanish forces, which were about 5,000 strong. This victory secured Venezuela's independence from Spanish rule and was a significant step in Bolívar's campaign to liberate much of South America. Carabobo is celebrated as a key moment in the region's struggle for freedom and the establishment of new nations.
