Royalist forces
Royalist forces refer to groups and supporters who were loyal to a monarchy, particularly during times of civil conflict. A prominent example is during the English Civil War (1642–1651), where Royalists supported King Charles I against Parliamentarians. The Royalists believed in the divine right of kings and sought to maintain the king's authority and traditional rule. They were often composed of nobility, clergy, and commoners who valued monarchy and opposed the parliamentary government's authority. The term can apply to similar factions in other historical contexts where royal authority was contested.
