Axum

Axum, often spelled Aksum, was an ancient kingdom located in present-day Ethiopia and Eritrea. It thrived from around the 1st to the 7th century AD and was a powerful trade center, connecting Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and beyond. Axum is known for its impressive stelae (tall stone monuments) and unique obelisks, which marked royal graves. It was one of the first major civilizations to adopt Christianity, influencing the region's culture and religious landscape. Axum's legacy persists today, and it is recognized as a significant historical and archaeological site.
