Aksumite civilization

The Aksumite civilization, thriving from around 100 CE to 940 CE in what is now Ethiopia and Eritrea, was a powerful ancient African empire known for its impressive architecture, trade networks, and early adoption of Christianity. It was a major center for commerce, connecting Africa, Arabia, and the Indian Ocean. The Aksumites built monumental obelisks, developed their own written script (Ge'ez), and minted one of the world's earliest known coinages. Their civilization played a crucial role in regional politics and culture, influencing the development of later Ethiopian history and Christianity in Africa.
