Axumite trade routes

The Axumite Empire, centered in modern Ethiopia, was an important trade hub around 100-700 CE. Its trade routes connected Africa, Arabia, India, and the Mediterranean, facilitating the exchange of gold, ivory, spices, textiles, and precious stones. Goods moved overland through caravan routes and via the Red Sea on ships, enabling Axum to control regional commerce and establish a strong economy. These routes helped spread Christianity, culture, and influence, making Axum a vital crossroads of ancient trade networks.
