Atra-Hasis
Atra-Hasis is an ancient Mesopotamian epic that dates back to around the 18th century BCE. It tells the story of Atra-Hasis, a wise man who is warned by the god Enki about a great flood intended to wipe out humanity. To survive, Atra-Hasis builds a large boat, preserving his family and various living creatures. The narrative explores themes of creation, human suffering, and divine intervention, reflecting the relationship between humans and the gods in ancient cultures. It is considered one of the earliest flood myths, influencing later texts, including the Biblical story of Noah.
