Visual SLAM
Visual SLAM, or Simultaneous Localization and Mapping, is a technology that helps machines, like robots or drones, understand their surroundings using visual data from cameras. It allows these devices to create a map of an area while keeping track of their own position within it. Essentially, as a robot moves through an environment, it takes pictures, recognizes features, and continuously updates both the map and its location. This process is crucial for navigation in unfamiliar places, making it invaluable for applications in robotics, augmented reality, and autonomous vehicles.
