Venus (planet)
Venus is the second planet from the Sun and is similar in size and structure to Earth, often called Earth's "sister planet." It has a thick atmosphere rich in carbon dioxide, which creates an extreme greenhouse effect, making it the hottest planet in our solar system, with surface temperatures around 900°F (475°C). The planet has a rocky surface with volcanoes and is covered in clouds of sulfuric acid. Venus rotates very slowly and in the opposite direction to most planets, resulting in long days and nights. It is often visible from Earth as a bright object, earning it the nickname "Evening Star."
