Geology of Venus

Venus's geology is shaped by volcanic activity, a thick, runaway greenhouse atmosphere, and surface features formed by lava flows and tectonic-like deformation. Its surface is young, with extensive volcanic plains, large volcanic shields, and rift zones, indicating ongoing volcanic activity. Unlike Earth, Venus has no plate tectonics; instead, its crust appears to be relatively immobile. The surface reflects past volcanic eruptions and possibly collapse of large magma chambers. High surface temperatures and pressure have preserved these features, offering clues about Venus's volcanic and geological history, which is dominated by volcanic processes rather than plate movements.
