United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata

The United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata was a geopolitical entity in South America that existed from 1810 to 1862. It emerged from the Spanish Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata during the push for independence from Spain. The region encompassed present-day Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and parts of Bolivia and Brazil. The Provinces faced internal conflicts and struggles for power, leading to divisions. In 1862, the Confederation was replaced by the formation of the Argentine Republic, marking a significant step in the region's political consolidation and national identity development.
