The Qin Dynasty

The Qin Dynasty, which lasted from 221 to 206 BCE, was China's first unified dynasty. Founded by Qin Shi Huang, it marked the end of warring states and established centralized rule. The dynasty is known for significant reforms, such as standardizing weights, measurements, and even script, which helped unify diverse regions. The Great Wall began construction during this period for protection against invasions. The Qin dynasty, though short-lived, laid the groundwork for future dynasties and is remembered for its authoritarian governance and monumental projects, alongside the controversial legalist policies that emphasized strict law enforcement.
