The Ninth Crusade (1271–1272)

The Ninth Crusade (1271–1272) was one of the last major military campaigns during the Crusades, aimed at re-establishing Christian control over the Holy Land. Led by Prince Edward of England, it followed the failed Eighth Crusade. Edward sought to strengthen Christian positions against Muslim forces in Syria, but faced numerous challenges, including limited resources and internal conflicts. Although he achieved some victories, the campaign ultimately did not result in significant territorial gains. The Ninth Crusade is often seen as a transitional moment, marking the decline of the Crusading efforts in the region.
