The Ninth Crusade
The Ninth Crusade was a military campaign in the late 13th century, occurring between 1271 and 1272, and is often regarded as the last major crusade to the Holy Land. Led by the English Prince Edward (later King Edward I), it aimed to reclaim territories lost to Muslim forces. The campaign faced challenges, including lack of support and harsh conditions. Although Edward achieved some victories, the crusade ultimately did not secure lasting gains, and by the end of the 13th century, interest in crusading diminished significantly as European powers shifted focus elsewhere.
