Suu Kyi (Aung San Suu Kyi)
Aung San Suu Kyi is a prominent politician and human rights advocate from Myanmar (formerly Burma). Born in 1945, she became known for her leadership in the pro-democracy movement against military rule. In 1991, she won the Nobel Peace Prize for her nonviolent struggle for democracy. After years of house arrest, she led the National League for Democracy to victory in the 2015 elections and became the de facto leader of Myanmar. However, her international reputation has suffered due to her handling of the Rohingya crisis, raising concerns about her commitment to human rights and democracy.
