Siege Towers and Battering Rams

Siege towers and battering rams are ancient siege weapons used to breach fortified structures, like castles or city walls. A siege tower is a tall, mobile structure that allows attacking soldiers to climb over walls and directly assault defenders. It often has a roof to protect those inside. A battering ram, on the other hand, is a heavy, swinging log or metal-clad object used to smash through gates or walls. The force of the ram, often suspended from a frame, can break down barriers and create access for troops. Both tools were essential for overcoming fortified defenses in medieval warfare.
