Shingon Buddhism
Shingon Buddhism is a major school of Japanese esoteric Buddhism founded in the 9th century by monk Kukai (also known as Kobo Daishi). It emphasizes rituals, meditation, and the use of mantras (sacred sounds) to attain enlightenment. Shingon teachings focus on the concept of "Buddha-nature," the inherent potential for enlightenment within all beings. Practitioners often engage in elaborate ceremonies and visualizations, aiming to experience a direct connection with the Buddha's wisdom. Shingon also incorporates mandalas, which are symbolic diagrams representing the cosmos, aiding practitioners in their spiritual journey.
