Sasanian Empire (224-651 AD)

The Sasanian Empire, which lasted from 224 to 651 AD, was one of the last great Persian empires before the rise of Islam. Founded by Ardashir I, it succeeded the Parthians and expanded significantly, becoming a major power in the ancient world alongside the Roman Empire. The Sassanians are known for their advancements in art, architecture, and science, as well as for promoting Zoroastrianism as the state religion. The empire thrived on trade and cultural exchange, influencing regions from the Eastern Mediterranean to South Asia until it fell to Arab conquests in the 7th century.
