Roman Britain

Roman Britain refers to the period from AD 43 to around AD 410 when the Romans controlled parts of the island now known as England and Wales. The Romans brought advanced engineering, roads, towns, and infrastructure, integrating Britain into the Roman Empire. They established settlements, introduced new technology, and influenced local culture and economy. Despite military presence, they also fostered local governance and trade. The Roman period significantly shaped Britain's development, leaving lasting archaeological and cultural legacy. After the Roman withdrawal, Britain transitioned into the early medieval period, but many Roman influences continued to impact its history and landscape.
