The Case of the Hoxne Hoard

The Hoxne Hoard, discovered in 1992 in Suffolk, England, is a remarkable collection of Roman coins and treasures. A local man, while metal detecting, unearthed over 14,000 coins, along with jewelry and silverware, dating back to the late 4th or early 5th century AD. This hoard is significant as it provides insight into Roman Britain’s economy and daily life. It is the largest find of Roman coins in Britain and showcases the wealth and craftsmanship of that era. After a lengthy legal process, the hoard was declared a treasure and is now displayed in the British Museum.
