Proto-Indo-European

Proto-Indo-European (PIE) is the hypothetical ancestor of the Indo-European language family, which includes many modern languages like English, Spanish, Russian, and Hindi. Linguists reconstruct PIE by analyzing similarities among these languages, allowing us to infer aspects of its vocabulary, grammar, and phonetics. Though no written records of PIE exist, its study provides insights into ancient cultures, migration patterns, and the development of human communication. It likely dates back over 5,000 years and was spoken in areas around the Black Sea or the Caucasus before spreading across Europe and parts of Asia.
