Old Persian

Old Persian is an ancient language that was used by the Persian Empire, particularly during the Achaemenid dynasty around 550–330 BCE. It is a type of cuneiform writing inscribed on clay tablets and stone monuments. As an early form of Persian, it provides valuable insights into the empire's administration, culture, and history. Although it is no longer spoken today, Old Persian's script and inscriptions, such as those on the Behistun Inscription, are crucial for understanding ancient Persian civilization and the development of Persian languages over time.
