Positive Predictive Value
Positive Predictive Value (PPV) is a measure used in statistics and medicine to indicate the likelihood that a person who tests positive for a condition actually has that condition. It is calculated by dividing the number of true positives (correctly identified cases) by the total number of positive test results (both true positives and false positives). A high PPV means that when a test gives a positive result, there is a good chance the person really has the condition, which helps in making informed decisions about further actions or treatments.
