Sensitivity and Specificity

Sensitivity and specificity are measures used to evaluate the performance of a test. Sensitivity refers to the test's ability to correctly identify those who have a condition (true positives) out of all who actually have it. A test with high sensitivity means fewer cases are missed. Specificity, on the other hand, measures how well the test identifies those without the condition (true negatives) among all who do not have it. A test with high specificity means it correctly rules out people who do not have the condition, reducing false positives. Both are crucial for effective testing and diagnosis.
