Negative Predictive Value

Negative Predictive Value (NPV) is a measure used in diagnostic testing. It represents the probability that a person truly does not have a condition when the test result is negative. In simpler terms, if someone takes a test for a disease and the result comes back negative, NPV tells us how reliable that negative result is. High NPV means that if the test says you're disease-free, it’s likely accurate, whereas a low NPV suggests that there might still be a chance of having the disease despite the negative result.
