Panchayati Raj

Panchayati Raj is a system of local self-governance in rural India, aimed at empowering villages through decentralized decision-making. Established by the 73rd Constitutional Amendment in 1992, it involves three layers: the Gram Panchayat (village level), the Panchayat Samiti (block level), and the Zila Parishad (district level). Elected representatives at each level manage local affairs, promote development, and implement government schemes. This system fosters democratic participation, enhances accountability, and aims to address local issues effectively, thereby improving governance and quality of life in rural communities.
