Norovirus

Norovirus is a highly contagious virus that causes gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the stomach and intestines. It leads to symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. People can get infected through contaminated food, water, surfaces, or by close contact with an infected person. Outbreaks often occur in crowded places, like schools and cruise ships. While most people recover within a few days, it can be more severe for the very young, elderly, or those with weakened immune systems. Preventing norovirus includes practicing good hand hygiene and ensuring food is properly prepared.
