Non-seminomatous germ cell tumors
Non-seminomatous germ cell tumors (NSGCTs) are a type of cancer that primarily affects the testes in men but can occur in other areas as well. They arise from germ cells, which are responsible for producing sperm. NSGCTs are a group of tumors that include different types, such as teratomas and embryonal carcinoma, and they tend to grow quickly. They are often diagnosed in younger men, typically between ages 15 and 35. Treatment usually involves a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and sometimes radiation, leading to a generally favorable prognosis when caught early.
