Neo-Elamite period
The Neo-Elamite period refers to a time in ancient history, around 1000 to 650 BCE, in the region of Elam, which is located in what is now southwestern Iran. This era followed the Middle Elamite period and is marked by the rise of powerful Elamite city-states and significant cultural developments. The Neo-Elamites engaged in trade, warfare, and interactions with neighboring civilizations, including the Assyrians and Babylonians. Art, architecture, and writing flourished, reflecting a rich cultural heritage. This period ended with the downfall of Elamite power, influenced by external conquests and internal challenges.
