Elam
Elam was an ancient civilization located in what is now southwestern Iran, existing from around 3000 BCE until it was absorbed by the Persian Empire in the 7th century BCE. The Elamites developed a unique culture, language, and writing system, distinct from their neighbors Mesopotamia. They were known for their advanced architecture, including ziggurats, and their contributions to trade, art, and metallurgy. Elam frequently interacted with and sometimes rivaled neighboring civilizations, influencing and being influenced by them. Today, Elam is recognized for its significant role in early human history, particularly in the development of urban societies in the region.
