Muscle development
Muscle development, or muscle hypertrophy, occurs when muscle fibers grow in size and strength in response to exercise, particularly resistance training. During workouts, tiny tears form in the muscle fibers, and as the body repairs these tears, muscles become larger and stronger. This process requires adequate protein intake, nutrition, and rest. Consistent training, combined with progressive overload—gradually increasing the weight or resistance—stimulates further growth. Factors such as genetics, age, and hormone levels also influence muscle development. Overall, a balanced approach to exercise, nutrition, and recovery is essential for effective muscle growth.
