Molasses
Molasses is a thick, dark syrup made as a byproduct of sugar extraction from sugarcane or sugar beets. During the sugar-making process, the juice is boiled to separate sugar crystals, and the remaining liquid becomes molasses. It has a distinctive sweet flavor with hints of bitterness and is rich in vitamins and minerals. Used in cooking and baking, it can be found in recipes for gingerbread, barbecue sauces, and baked beans. Molasses is also important in certain industries and can be fermented to produce ethanol or used as animal feed.
