Michelle Alexander

Michelle Alexander is an American civil rights lawyer, advocate, and author, best known for her influential book, "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness," published in 2010. In it, she argues that mass incarceration functions as a contemporary system of racial control, similar to Jim Crow laws that enforced racial segregation.
