Structural Racism

Structural racism refers to the systemic ways in which institutions and societal practices create and reinforce inequalities based on race. It encompasses discriminatory policies, historical injustices, and social norms that disadvantage certain racial groups, often without explicit intent. This can be seen in areas like education, housing, healthcare, and the criminal justice system, where biased structures result in unequal access to resources and opportunities. Unlike individual acts of racism, structural racism is embedded in the fabric of society, making it more challenging to identify and dismantle, yet it significantly impacts people's lives and outcomes based on race.
